Love all the new hand knit fashions, but feel you need to brush up your skills in order to knit them? With your materials purchase at Rare Purls, you receive free ongoing support from our staff to assure a successful project. We offer classes in knit and crochet from beginner to advanced, scheduled for your convenience. Call or come by Rare Purls for more information. Many of our customers have asked for more workshops. We are proud to announce our new affiliation with Ms. Melissa Brown, a certified teacher, awesome knitter, and indie dyer. Melissa is now offering a calendar of knitting workshops at Rare Purls. From hats knit in the round to toe up socks, these group workshops are fun and informative. March Classes We've all heard the old saying that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. That makes this the perfect time of year to knit up some cozy outerwear! The classes offered this month are focused on quick, stylish knits that will help see you through these last few days of chill. March classes: Bulky Cowl Class #1 March 2, 6-8 p.m. $30 Bulky Cowl Class #2 (this class is the same as the 1st bulky cowl class) March 23, 6-8 p.m. $30 Cabled Cowl Class March 9 and 16, 6-7:30 p.m. $45 for both classes Socks from the Toe Up March 11, 18, and 25, 6-8 p.m. $60 for all three nights Learn to Knit March 13, 11-2 p.m. $45 Coming in April: Afghan Squares- Have you joined the Block Afghan Knit-along? If you’re feeling a little intimidated by some of the techniques used then sign up for one of the classes highlighting a block from each afghan. Beaded Scarf- Learn how to liven up your knitting by adding bead work. Kits with pre-strung beads are available for purchase at the store. There is one other class at Rare Purls in March that Kay is teaching. From 1 - 3 p.m., on March 7th 16th, I will be teaching a moebius workshop. We will learn Cat Bordhi’s moebius cast on, setting up for her moebius cowl pattern, a lovely accessory. The fee is $20. I have a sample knit of the moebius cowl at the shop and we also have the materials, I believe they are less than $23, including the #10US, 40” Inox Express circular needle.
